Our parent tour is a small group visitation; therefore, we limit this group to parents/guardians only. Space is limited so we recommend that you reserve your tour date as soon as possible. The Tour begins at 10:00 am promptly and concludes by 11:30 am.

1. What kind of students attend The Timothy School?

The Timothy School serves children diagnosed with PDD or Autism ages 5 to 16. The school is not graded; each child's educational program is determined by the Individual Educational Plan (IEP). The Timothy School is a day program serving students in our surrounding counties.

2. How can my child get into The Timothy School?

The Timothy School accepts students by referral from their home school districts. The referral packet includes the child's IEP, most recent Evaluation Report, and medical evaluation information. This packet must be submitted by the school district. The Timothy School does not accept private paid tuition.

3. How many opening does the school have each year?

The number of student openings available changes yearly since it is dependent on the present school population. Openings occur when students return to home school districts or graduate to other programs. The Timothy School reviews referrals from the school districts yearly, they do not keep a waiting list from year to year.

4. Can you describe the educational program?

The Timothy School is mandated to follow all the state regulations for Special Education. The calendar includes 180 school days. Each classroom has a certified special education teacher and 1-2 assistants. The student staff ratio is determined by the student's needs, however, the average is two students to one staff.

The Timothy School's educational methods include the TEACCH method, Applied Behavioral Analysis, picture communication systems, and sensory integration.

Related Services include Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, and Physical Education all provided by certified staff.


5. How does the home school district stay involved with the educational process?

Each child's home school district is responsible for transportation to our program on a daily basis. The home school district is also included in all IEP meetings and are encouraged to participate in evaluation reports.

6. Does the school have an extended school year program?

Yes, this program is open to our students that qualify for extended school year as determined by the IEP team.

7. How could I support The Timothy School program?

The Timothy Development Fund was established to help support our program through grants and various fund raising events throughout the school year. Please refer to the Event Page for current programs available. The Timothy School also gladly accepts donations and we would be happy to meet with you or your organization to discuss how you could get involved.
